The Rock and his light-skin wax version

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s game plan? Get his wax figure sorted.

The Fast and Furious actor is weighing in after a Paris wax museum debuted a statue that is meant to be in his likeness, but that many people have called out for, among other issues, using a much lighter skin tone. In fact Dwayne, who is Black in Samoan, reposted a video from James Andre Jefferson Jr. in which the comedian joked that the figure “turned The Rock into an albino rock.”

For his part, the Moana star expressed his appreciation for James’ roast of the figure, while also addressing the controversy.

“I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs,” the 51-year-old captioned his Oct. 22 post. “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements- starting with my skin color.”

Grévin Museum has yet to comment on the matter.

But to prove there are no hard feelings, the former wrestler added alongside winking and laughing emojis, “And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”

Of course, for every wax figure that doesn’t quite hit the mark, there’s one featuring an uncanny resemblance to the star. Take Travis Barker, for example, who recently visited his new wax figure at Madame Tussauds’ Las Vegas location and was blown away by the accuracy.

“Woah! This is insane,” the Blink-182 drummer said of his likeness in an Oct. 22 video shared by the museum, later adding, “I’m honored. I’m flattered. I’m shocked. It looks so f–king real.”
